The first half of the list includes NMM categories mixed into the list, like the first one "Animation". So, in the short term, I think I've gotten done what I needed to, although I have yet to test this mod in game, and note I have a pretty long list of mods I rely on, I'm a bit frightened to post them all. This is the first time I've had an issue with NMM and I've been using it for several years. Depending on how many issues I run into with NMM will determine if I abandon it. Honestly, I have no idea if this issue is a Windows conflict or a problem with NMM. This got NMM working again and I was able to install NukaWorld Reborn, although I've not tested it in game yet. I found a link online telling you how to activate a program from a suspended state, simply type in Resource Manager in the Window Search window, open the Resource Manager App, check the list for in this case "NexusClient.exe", right click it and select activate. And if you are in this situation and don't see the app listed, hit the little "more details" button at the bottom of the TM window. I knew this because I checked the Windows Task Manager. I was launching it, it froze on me once or twice, and it was going into a "suspended" state (in Windows 10). Here is the latest regarding Nexus Mod Manager (v0.71.3). Thanks guys for your help and suggestions! Then if it's dead, I would most likely go to a mod manager where the mod manager does not have to be running for the game to load the mods.įor anyone wanting to find the GitHub Nexus Mod manager: NMM was working until yesterday, so most likely I'll go to GitHub and download the latest version of NMM and see if that is a dead end just because I'm familiar with it. So with Vortex, the hard links work whether Vortex is working or not as long as the mod data, wherever Vortex stores it is still intact.Īnd with MO2, that has to be running for the mods to be loaded by the game or no? Now clearly I don't have a real good understanding of the mechanics involved where links are used instead of placing the mod in the game data folder. For myself, I think the advantage of storing mod data in the data folder is that if your mod manager stops working, you don't have to worry about all your mods being flushed. Thanks! I would not describe myself as a faithful NMM user, I just want something that works. This is why people have moved to Vortex or MO2, though NMM still has it's faithful users. The problem with NMM is that the original profiles update messed up several features from it and it can - especially with Fallout 4 - leave some data out from mod archives during installation. If you want to keep using it, then you should pick the updated version from GitHub instead. It is lightweight and does not actually cause noticeable stress for the system. MO2 (which I personally prefer) requires that you run all through it, because it uses virtual Data folder and does not actually install any files in to Data folder at all. ![]() Originally posted by Ilja:Vortex uses hardlinks, so you do not need to run the whole thing for mods to run. Is it correct with Vortex and Mod Organizer 2, that those programs have to be running for the mods to work in game?Īnd any ideas on how to fix Nexus Mod Manager? Thanks. ![]() In this situation at least the installed mods are still functioning. Also when I uninstalled and reinstalled it, it's not giving me the option to update it and it is clearly an older version of NMM that I downloaded directly from the Nexus Mod Page. It will search for games, I check the games it has found, one of them Fallout 4, I tell it to stop searching, and then select Fallout 4, Quick Start button and the initial page goes away and nothing happens. I've tried several things restarted my PC, uninstalled and reinstalled it (Nexus Mod Manager). If I look at Task Manager, it does not show NMM running, but if I select "show more" it is in the list and it shows "suspended". I was getting ready to install a Nuke World mod, Nuka World Reborn, and when I launched Nexus Mod Manage to install this mod, it offered to update to I think version 7.5.3 or something like that and then it froze, and when I relaunched it, It shows that Fallout 4 is one of the games it's managing, and when I tell it to quick start, it disappears, appears to stop working, the page that normally pops up with a list of installed mods does not appear. ![]() It puts the mods in the data folder so it does not matter if you have the Mod Manager working or not, correct? I've been using Nexus Mod Manager for a long while now. I'm thinking a mod manager that uses links to tie mods into the game instead of placing them in the data folder directly. Based on a situation I've just run into, if I understand it correctly I'd be worried about using a mod manager that is required to run for the mods to work.
